Page 1 of 2 Right now, I'm making one huge spaceship, so I'm going to show you some methods I'm using for building it.
First create one half, very rough.
Then duplicate it to other side (instance duplicate)
Then click magnet button. This button will snap every tool to the surface of currently selected object. Go to create polygon tool, and create some shapes.
When done hit enter. Then select that face/faces and extrude it.
So once again...
And, after a while. This is going really fast...
Then I extruder the wing. And created detail on it
Render...
So basically it's all matter of your willpower...
At this point I noticed that performance is decreasing. To fix this select all that tiny objects on surface of ship and combine them (mesh/combine). You shall get 2-3 times more speed.
Than I created some bases for turrets.
And so on...
One very nice thing, that you must consider if you have two monitors, like I have. You can make separate window with copy of viewport by using tear off copy. So on my primary display I have Maya with perspective, and on second I have top view.
